Here are some Terran-style ships I made during the last couple of weeks.

The package contains 10 ships, one for each warship hull size plus 5 for the most commonly used cargo roles. All of the ships are basic hulls with extras. No engines, weapons etc. attached. So you should see them in the ship designer after you have researched the corresponding hull size class.

They are more or less asymmetrical and very 'navy-ish' and therefore probably not for everyone's taste, but you can look at the pics I included before extracting the files.

I stole the naming convention from Rabid_Monkey that he used in his great Imperial ship-pack:

z Croc-[Cargo role]-0x

Designation is 'Cargo' or, in case of warships, the Navy-like designations:
PTR (patrol ship) - tiny,
FF (frigate) - small,
DD (destroyer) - medium,
CR (cruiser) - large,
BB (battleship) - huge.

Cargo role is only for cargo hulls and, well, the cargo role:

Colo for colony ship,
Cons for constructor,
Frei for freighter,
Trans for troop transport,
Sens for sensor ship.

You need GalCiv2 version 1.1 and the Collector's Edition stuff to use them. Please update BEFORE you unzip the files.

INSTALLATION: Unzip the .xml and .shipcfg files into your ...\My Games\GalCiv2 or ...\My Games\GalCiv2\ships directory, depending on if you use folder names when unzipping or not.

WARNING: Their .shipcfg-files are sometimes pretty big and this WILL have an effect on your gameplay.

So use them at your own risk!

Hope you like them,

have fun!

The greatest work, what i saw ever in game modifications! It's just art!
Hope, Croc, you will make us happy with revised edition for Twilight of the Arnor!
Thank you very much!

Jeff,
I WILL do a dark avatar ship pack. In fact, I have already started with it. It's just that I have more important things going on in my life right now, so don't hold your breath yet. This will take quite a while.

Croc - I just downloaded your ships, and I've got to say they are fantasic! I've downloaded a LOT of ships too. I hope you do some new templates via Dark Avatar because you've got some great talent. Thanks for making these available - I'm playing with this set right now in Dark Avatar!

Start a new game and make sure you select the Terran ship style for your race at the beginning.

If it still doesn't work I'm afraid I can't help you.

I have put the models in the right folder, but whenever I enter the shipyard I do not see them

You are the master of ship making!

@Supersquid2000

I already released my fighter and corvette pack a couple of weeks ago. Just look for 'Terran fighter pack', on page 3 of the library now.

About the naming: as I stated in the readme, it was not my idea but Rabid_Monkey's from his Imperial ship pack. I decided against using Navy designations for the smaller ships. Corvettes have some weird designation (FE or something, IIRC) and fighters just 'F' or 'F/A' and this would only confuse people. So I used CRV and FGT instead.

Remember, those ships are only templates and it's YOUR job to fit them out with weapons and other components in-game and give the class an actual name. So no F-14 I'm afraid, but one of the fighters IMO shows some resemblance to an F-18. :)

As a former U.S. Sailor I can truly appreciate these designs, neat using official Navy designations for ship classes, I can't wait for the smaller designs. Will you base them off Naval Aircraft and Small Boat designations? I think a space going F-14 would be pretty awesome since you seem to have an excellent feel for recreating the naval look. Thanks again for the hard work.

These are really cool and well done. Probably my favorite designs of all that I have downloaded (which is a lot)

Whups, ignore previous... turns out my un-archiver had truncated the .shipcfg files to a .shi extension... re-expanded with WinRAR and all was well. Thanks for a great set of ship designs!

Hi Croc411,
I have all the .xml and .shipcfg files unzipped to C:\Documents and Settings\%user%\My Documents\My Games\GalCiv2\ships ... they look great in my GalCiv v1.20.035 + Collector's Ed content Shipyard, but when I click 'Upgrade' to add functional components I end up with a base hull and all of the jewelry/extra components removed. I've tried toggling the 'remove functional components when upgrading a ship design' function in the Interface options but this doesn't seem to change anything.
This is probably more of a game issue than a mod issue, but... any insight as to what's going awry, here?
Thanks for any advice. :)

These ships are awsome, so awsome that they're addicting and now I crave more.

Please make more ships godlike being known as Croc411

@ all:
Glad you like it.

@Holiver:
Actually I'm doing something like that right now. It contains both fighters (tiny ships) and corvettes (small ships). I'm afraid though I won't be finished until late summer.

@Logar:
I don't think you can rate mods here. I guess they are either rated by Stardock when they receive them or they get automatically rated by download rate or something.

@wolvenrage:
Sorry, this is impossible. Way too much work.

6/19/2006 1:30:05 PM
Make a version that doesnt require the collectors edition stuff....

6/12/2006 11:06:14 AM
Omg, those designs are godlike! How can I rate them? Those deserve a max rating!

5/25/2006 11:06:23 AM
THIS IS AWSOME!!!

Could u plz make another mod with tiny ships to go with this one? PLZ?

5/12/2006 11:52:42 PM
Nice! Your work is much appreciated!

5/8/2006 2:08:21 PM
Thanks!

@moral55

Take a look at C:\Documents and Settings\[your user name]\My Documents\My Games\GalCiv2

It's where the save games, mods etc. are stored, NOT the game files.

5/7/2006 6:25:26 PM
There is no GalCiv2/ships Directory....
