I use the translator.:)
I can not establish model of this ship. At attempt to construct this model of the ship game takes off. With other models of problems is not present. Similar I not one have faced this problem.
There is a decision?

I keep having trouble with this model, and I don't with any of Coplann's other models. When I import this as a jewelry piece it looks as though fin1 is just a blank white space and crashes the game. Like it doesn't have a texture. Does anyone have a fix for this problem? the Sharlin is an AWESOME ship and I was really looking forward to using it.

Thanks Coplann for all your hard work! It's incredible and very much appreciated!

How To Binary Compress?

12/3/2006 11:25:39 AM
When I Export Like So It Has Text. When I Look At The .X files That are gc2 Standards, i get Jibberish. What's The deal?

nope that doesnt work for me. but I still dont know why you want to have the X-File as text in the first place. ^^

Just speculation but a compressed .x format may be nothing more than a zip file with the .x in it. Have you tried renaming it to a .zip and unzipping it?

the binary compression was done by the Panda Exporter. normaly X Files are plain text just like the standard files from GC2, but the file then gets considerable bigger.

you can use Blender without any further programm to create X Files from a 3d model. just go Files -> Export -> DirectX (.X) and save it.

if you actually want to import an X File INTO Blender (to see the model and modify it etc) I cant help you. As far as I know there is no plugin or tool available that transforms X Files back into 3ds, dxf, blend or whatever you use.

I dont really know otherwise why youd want to see the plain text X Files. Its not going to tell you much really.

like:
xof 0303txt 0032
template FVFData {

DWORD dwFVF;
DWORD nDWords;
array DWORD data[nDWords];
}

template EffectInstance {

STRING EffectFilename;
[...]
}

not like you can manually edit them and do anything useful. ;)

btw: next weekend I will try to release the Tinashi Light Cruiser

I'm trying to figure out how to import ship models from Blender to GalCiv2. It appears that no one has ever done this, so I am trying to figure out how by reading everything I come accross as well as trial and error. I would like to see what your .x file looked like for the Sharlin but it's been "binary compressed". I really want to decode your Sharlin file now. :P I read on Usenet that WinZip and WinRar would decompress it. I must be stupid because neither of those appeared to do anything but zip / unzip. I also tried WinCode and Panda (Panda doesn't work without 3DS Max - lol) Anyway, if you could point me in the right direction for decoding .x binaries or importing models from Blender I will carve a statue of your likeness out of a bar of soap and burn incense in front of it.
