After Playing a few games, which i enjoyed, i realised I didn't like the amount of space aboard ships. The fighter held 16 space while the huge ships had only 80. I also noticed that even at the end of my game the small ships took only a few less weeks to build than the huge hulls. I wanted huge battleships full of stuff, and fighters that could be built quick.

I made this mod which spaces out the hull sizes, making the tiny and small hulls even smaller, and the large and huge hulls... huger. The medium hulls were tweaked a bit but stayed about the same. I also tweaked the costs and speeds and HP.

I also noticed that the ship hulls did not have to be identical. I made a standard hull, then a more sacious hull and a more robust hull (HP) for each size. I also renamed the hulls.

This mod will make most of the pre-made ships not work, but you can still make your own as normal. I may increase the mod to add back in pre-made ships.

Just one file to this mod. place it in the GalCiv2\Mods\Default\Data folder.

I play tested it through a whole game, and it functions as it should; let me know if you have a problem.

I can understand what Digital Seraph tries to do. Compare TIE-fighter with 2 lasers to a Star Destroyer (considered a large cruiser) with 60 turbolaser, 60 ion cannons and 10 tractor beams (not counting the point-defense lasers). I couldn't fit these amounts of weapons on a starship in GC2.

I'm giong to try this mod first thing in the morning (right now I'm working).

Hi, I'm interested in this mod but not at the expense of losing the core ships. You mentioned backfilling the original ships to have them and your larger ones but I don't see that post. Did you ever get around to doing it?

I tried to make a folder for default and data but it wouldn't work.

I cant get this mod to work. Digital Seraph do you have any suggestions?

Do you just throw it into the mods/default/data folder or does it need to be placed in another subfolder of data?

Do put on ship config or data/defult

Oh, note that it does not go into your my documents galciv folder but the one wher eyou installed the game. At least that was the only place i appeared to be able to activate the mod from.

In your GalCiv2 folder there is a mods folder
in the mods folder there is a default folder
in the default folder there is a data folder
put the file in the data folder.

If you don't have those folders, i guess i would suggest adding them. basically you need to be able to turn on the mods checkbox in the options menu in-game. I was unable to modify the default folder, so i put my mod in it.

are you on 1.3 beta or 1.2?

I dont see a mod/default/data folder .

I like your idea but am having trouble unzipping it. Do I put it in the data file under ship config?

Actually, I did know that. In the last game i won I had researched through the entire miniaturization tree.
My reason for the mod was not simply increase space, but to increase the difference in sizes of the hull types. I actually made tiny and small hulls smaller with less space.

You do know that ships aren't supposed to hold a lot unless you rsearch the miniturzation tech tree, right?
