I thought that I should get my custom designs out there before Dark Avatar extras make them look like dirt. This is my first post and it contains an assortment of some of my (IMO) better designs that were made under the human ship style. It does have three carrier designs which I am very proud of. They are just visual effects and DO NOT add anything to the game. Using KHSM I was able to build fighters seperate from the hull. This also allowed me to have formations of fighters flying next to the carriers. All of the ships are basic hulls with extras. No engines, weapons etc. attached.

You will need the Collectors Edition, the latest KHSM, and GC2 version 1.5. This is my first attempt at this so I hope everything works. Mad props to everyone that have been uploading their ships as it is very time consuming. Good job guys!

Yup, thats it comptech. All of these were designed under the human race. I believe you can change the ships to whatever race you want to by changing the filenames. Replacing the zero with other numbers will do that for you but I am not sure which numbers go with which race. I can't remember if I included that in the readme.txt or not. I am not on my normal computer right now but you should be able to find that info in the modding guide.

Comptech224 here again,
I belive I've probably found another thing about this mod that's an oddity. I've played on Very Fast Tech rate so I can unlock the techs to get those ships again, while playing with Altarian hulls. One problem, the ships once again do not show. Then I considered that it maybe because these are human hulls for this mod, so I'll confirm soon, but that is something you should look into.

No worries and your welcome. I am glad all is well (at least better). If you need anything else let me know. The next up load I do will take into consideration all the problems people have had and try to address them into the next readme.txt. Thanks for the feed back. How do you like my designs now that you can see them?

Hello there again,
Good news, problem mostly solved. I'm going to talk to Kyro about the error that shuts the game down, but now I can see the hulls. I copied the files again, but put them outside of ships instead of the ships folder. Then I used the 'Gods' game mode where all Techs are availble and I was able to see the ship designs. As for the error, I'm going to run a new game to see what will happen should I use blank hulls, which is an issue I will take up with Kyro. Thanks for the help you provided.

Hello, just adding on real quick. I need to know how to get the Collectors Edition Add-ons or Structures. That I'm having trouble doing, but I presume I had collectors edition since no further updates are availble for me. Help here would be appriciated too. THanks for all the information provided so far. Sorry to be such a bother.

Comptech224 once again,
I have version 1.5 via the Stardock program. I did start a new game just to be sure that no errors ever would occur. The folder location is the same as the game or at least one spelled out on the readme. *G denotes where I have placed it since I have two hard-drives, but GalCiv2 is on G*
G:/User/My Documents/My Games/GalCiv2/ships. . . Now if it is the wrong folder or I should simply remove the folder "ships" and try again, I'll do so, if that will work. I have version 1.5 Dread Lords, and version 1.9 Hull System from Kyro. I have posted in Kyro's info formum, but maybe I should send an e-mail as well. . . send me that adress and we can probably mend this soon.

These ships were disigned under DL so that should not have anything to do with it. OK, that is odd. Bear with me. Have you started a new game? The ships won't show up with a prior-to-download-game. That is really the only thing I can think of but you probably have already read everything below so you should know that. I wish I could help you more. You don't have to have any mod installed for all of the ships. So the only two things that I can think of that would cause this is either the ships are in the wrong folder or a new game has not been started since the ships were put there. Possibly the version f the game may have some thing to do with it. Do you have the latest patch? Did you down load the game from stardock or buy it in a store? Kryo will have to help you on the rest as I have exhausted all of my ideas.

I read such comment, plus I never mentioned I have DA, I have Dread Lords. . . So then that is apprently the problem or at least a source considering it. I have placed it in My Games folder within the said folders. Anyway, I will try to find said readme files and I will see about talking to Kryo about the crash and why won't . . . any . . . of the designs at all arrive past massive ship building

See comment: PubMaster 2/18/2007 1:28:53 PM. If you have DA the readme.txt is outdated and follow those tips. If you have already done this then download the readme.txt from PubMasters Metavers ship pack. Those are a bit more helpfull. Kryo on the forums is the master problem fixer and should be able to help you better. I will upload an update for these ships ASAP as I have found that the ships do not translate as design when installed in DA. This was unforseen. However if you can't even see the ships I would think that they are not installed into the correct folder. The crash should be solved by kryo also. I do hope this helps.

Hello there. I have installed this mod and for one, I made it to the medium sized hulls in my game. I couldnt' get those new ships, but I did get the Kryo's mod working. Then again when I made a custom ship and engaged in battle, the game shut down from an error. I am wondering if the problem will continue or is there a way to prevent an error message from showing up again. I followed the readme as best as I could. I would apprciate any help . . . send to comptech224@yahoo.com Thank you

jpinard- Thanks, I am very glad that you like them. Sadly the ships that are not showing up do need to have the KHSM MOD enabled. (Installed and Turned On) To answer your second question yes, any mods turned on will prevent you from playing the Metaverse. In order to play with those ships that need to have KHSM the mod has to be turned on and a new game started. Sorry. But I have submitted another ship pack that is metaverse compatible.

I made screenshots with no stars/nebula and cropped/pasted them into power point with the background set as black.

Pubmaster - I really like your ships. A quick question however. (Keep in mind I'm using Dark Avatar), a few ships are not showing up. Is this because I don't have Kyro's ship mod thing installed? Also, if I did have Kyro's ship mod thing installed/in-use wouldn't that make my games Metaverse incompatible?

Also, how did you take such a pretty picture (of all the ships together)? Did you cut and paste each on onto a black background?

Information from SideMancer:
Notes on using these designs:

- Dread lords and Dark avatar have their own seperate ship directories
- Metaverse and regular games have their own seperate ship directories

To use my ships in a DL regular game:
copy them into your 'My Documents\My Games\GalCiv2\ships' dir
To use my ships in a DL metaverse game:
My Documents\My Games\GalCiv2\Metaverse\ships
To use my ships in a DA regular game:
My Documents\My Games\GC2DarkAvatar\ships
To use my ships in a DA metaverse game:
My Documents\My Games\GC2DarkAvatar\Metaverse\ships

To check out the designs you can start a DL or DA regular game and
set the game mode to 'Battle of the Gods', this way you immediately get the
required hull techs for the designs.
In a metaverse game you have to research the required hull techs first.

In DA there are now templates, but to use previously created designs as templates, you have to use them as ships and then resave them within the game with the 'use as template' option turned on.

2/17/2007 9:29:41 AM
Oh yeah, you need to choose the KSHM as your mod. Otherwise the majority of those ships won't work.

2/17/2007 9:28:16 AM
Copy the files to the My Documents\My Games\GalCiv2\Ships folder. They should be there when you start a new game. The only required techs are the basic Advanced, Medium, Huge Hulls etc. I hope this helps. This should work for any of the ships you down load from the library. I may have neglected to include that info in the Readme.txt. I think it was toward the bottom. I will check it and make sure it is there.

How do I install this mod? I put the files on the same folder as KHSM and chose it as the mod. I do see the KHSM mod in ship designer but I cant find the "new" ships of this mod from anywhere? Do these ships come with som tech so I have to reseach first to know whether I have succesfully installed this mod? (Im a bit new to galciv2 mods)

2/13/2007 4:00:43 PM
Thank you SideMancer. I appreciate that. I was checking out the forums and found KenWebb' s designs. You might like them too.

Hey pubmaster, very nice ship designs! 'before DA extras make them look like dirt': same reason I hastily uploaded my designs.

2/12/2007 10:46:44 PM
THANKS!
I think the template option will work. I haven't downloaded DA yet. (Waiting on paycheck.)
But I generally minimize my components and rotate them to hide em. Glad you like them!

Trim- R/G/B -210/151/48
Hull- RGB -140/140/140

2/12/2007 10:06:39 PM
Wow, those are gorgeous! Can you you post your color combo (the RGB value for the hull and trim)?

Can these be used as a template? ie. will adding weapons to them mess them up?
