This is a new Lightmap for the planets, to show up real cities.

This mod could decrease performance on older Pc'c cause it needs more memory

Dark Avatar has been out for a while, so you provably know it pretty well by now. You've probably got your strategy all worked out, right? Well, perhaps it's time for something a little different:

Now, with the Randominator mod, EVERY game can be a new experience.

Note that if you want to use this with Dread Lords, you'll need to use v1.1 instead, which can be found here: http://library.galciv2.com/index.aspx?m=450

Features:

- Randomises pretty much every modable aspect of GCII, from tech costs to Races.
- Compatible with any other mod (in theory at least).
- Removes all core ships from the game.
- Can choose which parts of the game to randomise.
- Can choose whether or not to remove core ships.
- Option to include Total Randomination- random changes that massively affect how the game is played, such as setting all logistics costs to zero or making ships more expensive.
- Option to balance the promoted Minor Races, removing their large economy bonus in return for some starting techs.

Forum thread: http://forums.galciv2.com/?forumid=348&aid=131653

How to use the Randominator mod:

- Extract all files from the Zip.
- Follow the instruction in the Readme. (IMPORTANT! This does not work quite like a normal mod!)

Add twenty new anomalies that include new ways to gain or lose money, new items to help boost civilization abilities, and some items to add some new flavor. All anomalies are listed in the readme file.

EDIT: This mod uses existing pics to keep the file size to an absolute minimum.

Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri custom factions for GalCiv2: Dark Avatar
version 1.1

CHANGES from 1.0
- All races now have a few negative traits (i.e., University of Planet faction has a -20% social production)
- Some traits are 'new' such as 'Home Planet Quality' which is present in the XML file itself, but not selectable in the game.
- All SMAC factions now have different theme music instead of just 'Human'.
- SMAC faction race names have been changed to reflect their actual names from the Alpha Centari game.
- Almost all factions have super abilities. A couple? do not.

If you're like me, you've accidentally hit the "New Game" button a hundred times, when you really wanted to start a "Metaverse" game.

The common reflex is to go to the top of a start menu, vs. hitting a button buried in the middle. Since I couldn't move the buttons around, I edited them (you can't just do this in Photoshop since it's Desktopx code).

The "New Game" button is still clickable but slightly greyed out. The Metaverse button comes in 4 varieties. You can easily switch between them with the self-installing executables I include. There's Blue, Red, Blue with White outline, and Red with White outline.

This mod is only intended for Dark Avatar and is fully Metaverse compliant. I've included a screenshot in the zipfile as well - showing each set of buttons side-by-side.

Enjoy!

I had trouble with the glare effect on the mini-map because the slight color alteration makes any one race look like others (in the top 1/5 of the screen). The screesnhots I provided here don't really do the mod justice since it's much more apparent with lots of races using similar colors.

At any rate, it's much easier to see now.

Enjoy!

There are huge transformations to this mod:
all ship sizes have been increased:now a colony ship is up to 1100!
each ship size is double or triple times its predecessor
All planetary improvements and achievements and trade goods have been increased
Now an industrial sector gives you 128 points!
A stock market increases money gains by 1280%!
All ship components have been modified to suit reality better
A colony module is 300 space
a weapon module is 3-7 space
All weapons and defenses have been doubled from generation to generation!
No more the same damage for laser 2,3,4... each new version packs more firepower
A lot of work has been don for this mod,so please mention my name,Lucian Ilea, when you modify it.
INSTALL:
install winrar
unpack the data.rar into galciv 2 folder
unpack the data2.rar into dark avatar folder
enjoy!

The predator is one of the most powerful ships ever. While unbalancing the game (a little), I just thought Id put it up here. I actually got the idea of how it looks of of a Romulan ship. (Best to have Kryo's mod.)

Version 1.02 has a better readme and the option to have her not vocally patronize you infinitum :-)

-----------------------

This custom enemy race has animation, sound, is 100% Metaverse compatible, and also includes both positive AND negative attributes. If you're a fan of System Shock (or just want to see what a fully customized race is like), then you should really enjoy this. She's well balanced, and should give you an excellent challenge. Hope you enjoy your first encounter (make sure your sound/music is on). Full installation instructions are included in the readme. And do yourself a favor... don't listen to the mp3 before you play against her. It would ruin a little of the fun.

This mod replaces the Purple, Green, White, and Red Stars. I only chose those stars since I felt they didn't quite fit the galaxy as they were.

* The Green and Purple stars have more of a burning plasma effect and mix in better in the galaxy.

* The White Stars are all white (with no blue) and the churning effect it visible just a bit farther away.

* The Red Stars have nearly all the orange removed so they're easier to distinguish from orange stars.

* I didn't change the Orange, Blue, or Yellow stars because I think they already look fantastic.

* This mod is intended for Dark Avatar and is 100% Metaverse compatible.

* Installing it is super easy. Extract zip contents and then double click the "install stars" file from your
\\My Documents\My Games\GC2DarkAvatar\ folder.

It will install everything you need automatically.

-----------------------------------------------------

Since this mod does not over-write any default game files, it is easy to remove if necessary. Just delete the installed files from your:

\\My Documents\My Games\GC2DarkAvatar\Gfx\Stars folder.
